Elinor Krieger Coble
about me
Elinor Krieger is a representational artist from rural Iowa. I am from a small Iowa town that is surrounded by corn and soy beans; after receiving my BFA from the University of Iowa in painting and drawing, I decided to stay in the bigger moment of Iowa City to work and create. My life consists of spending time with my family and 5 flower baby cats, drinking a hot cup of coffee early in the morning, enjoying sunrises on porches as the sun illuminates the plants and life around me, and sending many letters before dusk. I am a graduate of the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing and a minor in Geological sciences. Currently I am a building substitute in the Iowa City School district forming positive, meaningful connections with students and life, and full time painter and life artist. I am focusing on self exploration by creating self portraits. I believe that this form of expression of self is the deepest understanding of myself, my feelings, my ability to view the world. Opening conversation of how we perceive ourselves versus how others perceive us, and truly getting that how we view ourselves is the most important of it all. I am seeking the understanding of what I am seeing in front of me, a question that I pose to myself so always. Who am I, who are we? Art is my calm and joy and helps me come to understanding the world around me. I hope my work affects you in such a way.
